Candidate Obama was not vetted, he was elevated. All of his negatives, listed, were known before the election. The media dismissed or covered up each. Obama is not competent to be President of the US. He is doing great damage at home, and his hostility to Israel is overt. Every appointee is in the anti-Israel camp. As for Iran and North Korea, his inability to criticize or counter them is disgraceful. His damage goes on and on....

Here is the result of US administration"s policy: "Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said there will be no peace talks until Israel recognizes a Palestinian state and upholds the first clause of the road map – halting all settlement activity. "We were required to bring security, and we did. Now Israel must fulfill its commitments," Abbas said, adding, "We are not inventing new terms and are not placing any conditions, we want each of the parties to live up to their commitments." Anon, Obama administration"s focus on the settlements is a "red herring". There is no way that the growth of the settlements is stoppable, and their existence has NIL to do with a real peace deal. By telling Israel to stop natural growth in the settlements Obama is asking one party in a dispute to make a unilateral concession on the basis that it"ll make the other party - the Palestinians - see that we seriously want peace. If you read even the most moderate Palestinian vision, they always come back to the point that they will not accept any quid pro quo offers except in the context af a just and final agreement on everything. They simply will not agree to partial compromises, and thus Israel should do no different: "no compromises except in the context of a final status agreement".

We try to steer away from all right wing hysteria about Obama. However, I"d make two points: 1. If these admittedly small indiscretions had been done by Bush would we ever hear the end of it? 2. [On a similar theme] Back home in Oz, we have the situation that Joel Fitzgibbon was forced to resign for an indiscretion. The ABC last Thursday night (Lateline) repeatadly questioned Julie Bishop for her ulterior motives, and the opposition"s ulterior motives for forcing the resignation. They made it appear as though Julie Bishop was the one who was doing something wrong, not the former Minister. That"s the ABC

I am not happy with Obama on his distance from Israel but as yet he has not proved to be an enemy. Stuff like this is what is being put out by the right wing of the Republican Party with its moderate wing holding fire. We must be careful because people like Chuck Hagel on the Republican right is VERY anti-Israel. American politics is a minefield and we must tread carefully.
