Dear Colleague,

Thank you for supporting Israeli medicine during these difficult times. It is both disturbing and worrying that anti-Israel sentiments have found their way into the field of medicine. Political views should be discussed, but not within the framework of a profession whose supreme value is the health and well-being of all human beings. The Israeli medical community has much to be proud of in this regard. We are grateful to you for taking part in the struggle against the politicization of medicine and the degradation of the Israeli medical profession in the eyes of the global medical community. By signing the Israel Medical Association's petition you have demonstrated your support and solidarity. Thank you for taking the time to assist your colleagues here in Israel.

Unfortunately, our work is not yet done. Damage has been caused by the original petition orchestrated by Dr. Derek Summerfield, which attacks the Israeli medical profession. In another of many incidents described by the Director of Tel HaShomer Hospital, he related the visit of the Baroness de Rothschild, a philanthropist donor from France. The Baroness was accompanied by a journalist from Paris Match who asked if Arabs are treated in the hospital, as well. They were shown to one such patient where the journalist took notes and photos. The Director asked for a copy of the published article. Some months later, having received no article, he inquired and was told that the journalist presented her findings but the Editor at Paris Match told her: You are young and gullible, the Jews lie, they fooled you, they do not treat Arabs in Jewish hospitals. The story never got published.

Academic sanctions,Summerfield, and now the UK has imposed a partial arms embargo on Israel, refusing to supply replacement parts to the navy gunships used in the Gaza offensive.Is there another Western nation so anti Israel ?

A few days ago, the director of Shiba-Tel HaShomer hospital was interviewed on the radio. He related just a few of many amazing experiences he has had there. In one case, a young Arab man from Gaza needed a (bone-marrow?) transplant and the only matching donor was a brother of his. In the process, the patient\"s immune defenses were destroyed prior to the transplant. Suddenly, two men in civilian clothes came and took away the donor brother, leaving no explanation. Without the donor, the patient could now die. The director, on Friday night, contacted his sources in the Israeli govt and found that the donor had been taken by Israeli security for interrogation. While waiting in the hospital, he had been identifying potential targets in the hospital and relaying by SMS text to Jihadis in Gaza, which the Israelis were monitoring. He wanted to attack the same hospital that was saving his brother\"s life! In the end, he was brought back for the transplant (which went OK) and later returned to the authorities. People simply don"t appreciate what Israeli medicine has done and continues to do for Arabs, even murderous Jihadis in Gaza.

Derek Summerfield is the same kind of stooge that other pro-Arab spokespeople are. Having accepted any Arab story that meets their own psychological needs, these fools "front" for the Arab cause of always smearing Israelis. The flimsy story of why normal procedures are not followed, but immediate guilty verdicts are adopted aagainst Israelis, is why Lenin said there are "useful idiots" to be exploited.
