Interestingly, the whole business of the Gaza Flotilla received little coverage in the English-language press in India and China, in fact one Indian paper had a much bigger story on a Bollywood starlet going topless!
It's amazing how where there is but little history of anti-Semitism (that is, Asia), the amount of interest in Arab-Israeli conflict isn't very much at all.
Indeed, if you stop and think about it, this conflict has killed about 51,000 people since 1950; 35,000 are Arab deaths, over 60 years is less than the number of people killed in traffic accidents in the United States in an average year and it's nice to see that India and China actually give The Middle East the level of coverage that a conflict of this size truly does deserve. (As an aside, 10,000,000 Muslims have killed each other in the same period.)
The fact that there are people that are endlessy interested in what is actually a realitively small conflict on a day-to-day basis (with the occasionaly more genuine flair-up but it's still small by most standards) speaks reams about who and what they are . . . and it is quite ugly as Mr. Hanson makes abundantly clear; there is really no other explanation.
The total demonization of Israel by The Left will do one of two things; it has taught Israelis that since there is NOTHING they can do that is acceptable to "these people," Israel now doesn't have to do ANYTHING at all to even BEGIN to try to placate them which is, in my opinion, actually something quite healthy.
The other thing is that the avearage Israeli, what with rising affluence, will just become sick-and-tired of having to live this way and will just consider leaving Israel because "it's not worth it" anymore and I view this, along with the higher birthrate of the Arab minority, as the REAL reality of what might ultimately destroy The Jewish State.
One good thing, though, is in the short-run, the first point I made will hold sway and it is backed by perhaps 200 atomic weapons, 60 of them mounted on cruise missiles all with "stealth" technology in several submarines always a-sea; this is the best insurance Israel has for the moment and I'm sure glad it does!
PS, There is a rumor going around on the internet that it was actually Israel that sunk that S. Korean warship!
