Emergency Call takers required

Red Cross runs the State Inquiry Centre (SIC) and has similar arrangements in each state of Australia. The Victorian SIC is gearing up to handle national inquiries in relation to Cyclone Yasi (www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ65002.shtml).
 
Red Cross and Jewish Emergency Management Plan (JEMP) have a Memorandum of Understanding through which JEMP attempts to offer emergency assistance to support the State’s emergency efforts during a crisis, an in particular to provide either a backup call centre to handle call overflow or to provide call taking staff.
 
Red Cross has turned to JEMP to ask for assistance in providing personnel to help in the staffing of the SIC in its North Melbourne Headquarters.
 
While Red Cross have a preference for volunteers with JEMP training, any available persons who are able to handle themselves well over the phone will be useful. Shifts run in 6-hour blocks commencing at midday today running through to 6:00pm, 6:00pm to midnight; midnight to 6:00am, 6:00am to midday tomorrow, etc. Brief training will be supplied in Red Cross’ North Melbourne headquarters prior to the shift and volunteers will need to arrive at the North Melbourne headquarters 1/2 hour prior to the shift.
 
You will be assisting fellow Australians in crisis.

Your availability (Wed 12:00p-6:00p, Wed 6:00p-12:00a, Thu 12:00a-6:00a, Thu 6:00a-12:00p, Thu 12:00p-6:00p, Thu 6:00p-12:00a, Fri 12:00a-6:00a, Fri 6:00a-12:00p, etc.)
Whether Kosher food is required, while on shift
