That’s why very few Jerusalem Arabs have ever participated in intifada and other terrorist activities against Israel. That’s why any and every Palestinian Arab who can — has been desperately scurrying over to the Israeli side of the security fence in and around Jerusalem. That’s why Jerusalem Arabs are buying up homes at a dizzying pace in several predominantly Jewish neighborhoods like French Hill, Pisgat Ze'ev and Talpiot.
Thus, the sundering of Jerusalem is not only patently unwise, but unfair to Jewish history and to Israel’s fine stewardship of the city.
Woe will be a divided Jerusalem. Will the Democratic Party allow the Obama administration to drag it down a deleterious path away from its long-standing and principled path of support for a united Jerusalem under Israel?

Well, since the item was written, the pip squeaked and a united Jerusalem is back on the Dem platform. But if you believe that the Dems under Obama really mean that, then you are terminally gullible. The US administration under Obama has been consistently hostile to Israel (and bearing in mind its attitude to Pollard, to Jews), the sudden change reeks of Obama's hallmarks: opportunism to gain an ideological objective. Another way to describe his tactics is taqqiya.

The Holy City really is special. It is the most multi-faceted and multi-dimensional of all urban spaces in the world. If the divine paradigm of stability, order, benevolence and expansiveness takes root the city will be like a mirror. It will attract and reflect divine blessings. Prayers for Jerusalem, the State of Israel and the Middle East.

The US understands and has always understood that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and that countries get to choose their own capitals. The US even maintains two separate consulates in Jerusalem, one in the western part of the city and another used to be in the eastern part, but has been moved to a new location. (The Embassy, though, is in Tel Aviv.) The US won't publicly recognize Jerusalem as the capital because the desire of the White House (and espcially the State Dept) to make nice with the Arabs, who have lots of oil leverage. Obama's back-tracking here tells us that he is quite willing to bend according to Arab pressure. He's been like that since the begining of his term - and he hasn't improved. From here on in, he will only get worse...
