The 2014 Gaza Conflict Factual and Legal Aspects
We are all aware that the State of Israel and consequently, the people of Israel are going through a tense period at the present. As expected, there are a diverse range of opinions scattered amongst the population, which provoke high levels of passion.
Jews are not new to the concept of diversity or opinions. In fact, the concept of machloket l'shem shamayim, argument for the sake of heaven, is a pillar which sustains our rich tradition. It is a concept which promotes respectful discussion and debate. Recently, I have become aware of a feeling of hostility within the Jewish community, with people allowing their differing political stances to fracture our precious unity.
It is my belief that out common commitment to Ahavat Yisrael, love of Israel (both the land and the people), is powerful enough to transcend our differing views. It is my wish, that we embrace these differences with respect and maturity and not allow this latest phase in our history to shatter our sense of people-hood and breed hate and abuse.
The respective adoption of the colours blue and orange have caused the increasing polarisation and disparity of views to become startlingly visible and obvious. In response to this, I have created a logo with the slogan, which you can see.
If you share concern for our situation and are not overly offended by my poor graphic skills, could you kindly forward this to whomever you feel appropriate and feel free to use the logo for any purpose other than kindling.
Thanks and peace,
Arielle
