Owning 5WPR, I see media bias on a daily basis – but as a Israel supporter watching the media, it’s simply sickening how the media doesn’t get it. In the wake of the horrible media coverage Israel faced during Operation “Pillar of Defense”, some applicable media quotes show how media simply doesn’t get it sometimes.
Each of those quotes could be used and pointed at recent Anti-Israel media coverage.
“The problem of journalism is simple. Journalists are rarely in a position to establish the truth of an issue themselves, since they didn’t’ witness it personally. They are entirely dependent on self-interested sources to supply their facts. Every part of the news-making process is defined by this relationship; everything is colored by this reality.” Jay Epstein, “Between Fact & Fiction”
“Feeding the media is like training a dog. You can’t throw an entire steak at a dog to train it to sit. You have to give it little bits of steak over and over again until it learns.” Andrew Breitbart
The “big lie” of the Palestinian Arabs has thrived by their exploitation of the media. From spinning Israel as the oppressors in the Middle East to the concept of the “Palestinian people”, the media has bought into the big lie – and the Palestinian Public Relations team continually feed “little bits of steak” to create the big lie.
“The quack, the charlatan, the jingo, and the terrorist can flourish only where the public is deprived of independent access to information. But where all news comes at second-hand, where all testimony is uncertain, men cease to respond to truths and respond simply to opinions. The environment in which they act is not realities themselves but the pseudo-environment of reports, rumors, and guesses. The whole reference of thought comes to be what somebody asserts and not what actually is.” Walter Lippman, Liberty and the News
