Another attack in Jerusalem.

Another attack in Jerusalem.

This morning, I took the bus to work and met a neighbor on the bus who told me that his daughter lives in Melbourne.  After work, I got on the bus home and found the same neighbor, on his way home, too.  Along the way I noticed an ambulance or two, one even got up on the sidewalk / footpath to get through the traffic, so he seemed to be in a rush somewhere.

We got off the bus in my neighborhood and I saw another ambulance coming towards me and then passing by.  I also noticed a bunch of flashing blue lights up ahead but wondered why the police cars weren't approaching; they just stayed there.  At home, the radio was reporting on what appeared to be a terrorist attack.  It happened right up the road, 2 bus stops away from where I got off, just minutes earlier.

At this stage, it seems that a 21-year-old Jihadi who lives here in Jerusalem drove his car over commuters getting off the light-rail (tram).  Several people were injured; a 3-month old baby was killed.  The Jihadi smashed up his car and tried to run away but was shot by a policeman who happened to be nearby.  Arabs are rioting in several parts of the city at the moment - perhaps outraged that the police have arrested a "brave" Jihadi for killing a 3-month-old baby.  They'll be calling the dead baby an "illegal settler" soon, for sure.

(Doubtless, the Jihadis throughout the Muslim world will praise the work of this young Jihadi who succeeded in murdering a defenseless 3-month-old baby.  And as they have done in the past few weeks, Abdullah, the Kingling of Jordan / the Real Occupied-Palestine, Abbas of Ramallah and others in the Arab world will say that Jewish apartments are to blame.  And that dangerous fool, John Kerry, will echo their sentiments and blame all of Islam's woes on the Jews, again.  We've been through all of this many times in the past.)

I notice that in the past few weeks, Jihadis bent on murder have been shot dead by the police in Australia and Canada.  At least two Canadian soldiers have been killed in the past 3 days in two attacks, one of which is taking place right now (so I don't really know the background on that attack).  In the past, Jihadis trying to kill (sometimes by driving their cars into pedestrians or into groups of soldiers) have been stopped and shot dead by Israeli soldiers.  And when that happens, the Talking Heads overseas complain about "disproportionate" Israeli responses and "heavy-handedness".  So I find it curious that when Jihadis try these same tactics in other countries, other people respond exactly the same as Israel has.  But only Israel gets criticized for what any normal people would do - and have done and are doing on this very day.

Part of the current Islamic violence in Israel is the result of wild (and entirely untrue) allegations in recent weeks by Abdullah, Abbas, Kerry and more.  It's time that this incitement to murder is seen for what it is - incitement to murder.  Just a few days ago, Abbas has called on Palis to attack Jews "by any means".  These are killing words and not those of a "peace partner".  The only tools that John Kerry, the senior US diplomat, has are words.  If he doesn't understand how to use them nor how they affect real people and kill innocent babies, then he is not only incompetent, but criminally incompetent.

Eventually, the rest of the world will learn through their own local experience what Israel has been experiencing for many years.  But will the incessant hyper-criticism of Israel end?  I'm not holding my breath.
